Attached is the screenshot of the error message that pops up when I try to install Windriver. This comes up both when I try the installation with the prepopulated LAC & when I try it with LAC given in the sample page. Can anyone explain?

A similar post by Brad Miller on Chief Delphi mentions a solution From Wind River fixing their registration server. However we still get the same error. We are told to post here if there is still a problem.
Brad Miller said that the problem has been fixed
here
but we still got the error.
I haven't tried the suggested reboot after installing the first DVD, if I don't hear anything today I'll try that tonight.
I'll post my results tomorrow.
This evening we were able to install on 1 laptop but we still have a problem with another one: we noticed that the date was wrong (Dec 2003!) and wonder if this has affected the registry. I have experienced such a problem with LabVIEW before but the error message pointed clearly to the wrong date/time and was corrected easily. We plan to re-image the laptop and try again.
The restart I mentioned above didn't fix my problem, unfortunately.
My result is a LAC error
This problem comes and goes, I thnk. I was able to install Thursday night, but now I can't today (Saturday), and another person wasn't able to either. I have rebooted.

I tried installing the Windriver software over the weekend and had the LAC issue posted above. I tried restarting and that didn't help. I will try again this evening. Has anyone resolved this issue?
We have had the same error on any machine we try to install on for the past 2 weeks. The error message said call WR so we did. They said call NI as they are doing support for WR for FIRST which we did and ever since NI have been working on it. We cannot install WR on the laptop we want to use for robot development nor on the student laptop we tried instead. We had previously successfully installed it on my home workstation and one other machine.
Our LAC is 78202-238C-ZGEPR. Does anyone know if it is common to FIRST or unique to our teams install disks or unique to the target machine ? Is there any limit to the number of installs of WR a team can have ?
I had the same problem when trying to install on a brand new Vista laptop this weekend. I just got off the phone with a very nice rep from NI. The official word right now is that the patch that WindRiver applied to their server last weekend did not work, and now the estimated time to fix is ANOTHER WEEK! (Yikes - somehow I don't think this is the kind of "impossible" situation that Woody and the GDC had in mind...)
The NI rep said that this is currently their number one service call issue, so I think we here on this forum are only the tip of the iceberg. He did tell me that it seems there are certain network cards that the WR server does not like, and so they are asking for your computer hostname as well as the MAC address of your NIC, apparently in an attempt to narrow down the issue.
So I would encourage anyone having the problem to call NI with the above info, and maybe they can figure this out more quickly. Also, make sure you provide an email address as well, as the NI rep said that he would be notifying anyone with this issue open when it is finally resolved.
(The LAC seems to be one that is common to all FIRST teams, but we are supposed to be able to do unlimited installs from the disks we were given. However, as noted above, the license on your particular machine is tied to the hostname and NIC, so that the copy on your machine cannot be simply reimaged to another machine, and also so WR can keep track and disable all future updates to that machine after one year. )
Abra,
Thanks very much!
Can you post the relevant contact info for NI?
The theory about the NIC doesn't make sense to me, because they provide the alternative of using the disk serial number. I've tried both. Of course, I suppose they may BOTH not work.
I am trying to install on a 64-bit Windows box.
Is it time to bring big guns to bear? I'm thinking Dean and/or any big Wind River customers that are sponsors. I wonder, for instance, if BAE Systems might have some clout.estimated time to fix is ANOTHER WEEK![]()
