    Default Pneumatics - Festo Solenoid

Many teams seem to be having problems with Festo solenoids. We have had similar problems. We discovered that our solenoids require power to be supplied at pins 1 & 3 NOT pins 1 & 2 as per the supplied documentation. Perhaps this information will help other teams also.

    Post Festo Valve doesn't work

Our Festo valve is not working. We have wired it up and the voltage signal is getting to the valve, and the LED is comming on when we push the button on the joystick. We have tried two different valves, and neither one switches when the voltage goes to 12 volts. We have the wires in terminals 1 and 2. Any suggestions?

Festo is committed to supporting the FIRST program. This year they encountered an unexpected problem, although not unsurmountable, in the production of the valve kit. The wiring of the valves supplied this year is different from the valves supplied in previous years. Rather than scrap a large number of valves or jeopardize meeting the deadline for the kit, Festo has updated the wiring instructions to enable you to use a valve of either wiring configuration. If after going through the instructions you cannot operate the valve please call the Festo Customer Resource Center at 1-866-463-3786 so they can troubleshoot or arrange to get you a replacement valve.
