    Default Problem imaging spare Classmate

Got the spare Classmate, imaged it with the FIRST USB Flash drive. That was a mistake. The image doesn't have the necessary video drivers or wireless network drivers and a bunch of others that I haven't yet identified. By default, it logs on as "Driver", but the driver station doesn't fit on the screen (no video drivers!) which means it is unusable and I have to exit using CTRL-ALT-DELETE. Then I can log on as "Developer" but have been unable to find the correct drivers. I've just looked and didn't find them, either on the FIRST web site or on ctl.helpserve.com, where any Classmate downloads are supposed to be. All CTL has is downloads for the E09 but this is an E10. How about posting the correct drivers for the replacement Classmate on the FIRST web site?

So, I tried using the restore DVD provided with the replacement Classmate. That reinstalled Windows alright, but had even fewer of the drivers than the FIRST image on the USB stick. After using the restore DVD, I had NO network devices at all! At least with the FIRST image, I had the wired network device. Has anyone had any success with any of this?

Found drivers on the CTL web site; you have to do a search for the E10 as they don't have any links for it. Here's the link:

    ftp://ftp.ctlcorp.com/PUBLIC/NOTEBOO...ooks/E10IS/XP/

It's just an FTP site and it's not obvious what some of the drivers are for (like F6, DCP and TPM), but the data appears to be there.

I posted the original question in the official Q&A section but those groups are moderated so the question must be approved before it is posted. So far, the question hasn't been posted and there has been zero response from FIRST.

So, here's the solution that worked for me. Some of these steps may not be necessary, but this is what I did and so far it's working the same as the original Classmate.

When installing drivers, reboot when requested to do so.

    1) image the new Classmate with the FIRST USB stick
    2) Either download the drivers from the CTL FTP server to the new Classmate
(the wired connection should work) OR connect an external USB device
(CD, DVD or USB drive) containing the un-zipped downloaded drivers
    3) From the Control Panel, select "Add or Remove Programs". Select the
Uninstall the Realtek Wireless LAN utility (there is an icon on the task bar
with an X through it because the wireless card is not found).
    4) reboot
    5) In the WLAN\RALK_V1.1.3.11_X directory, run setup.exe
    6) In the WLAN\RTL8191_8192_SE_WindowsDriver_1085.14.0923.20 09.F0049.P0406_ISS_1.00.0129.L directory, run setup.exe
    7) Run setup.exe in each of the following directories:
    DCP\DCP_MP_PNV_6887
    DCP\OSD_6887
    DCP\PM_XP_6887
    8) Run setup.exe in the Chipset directory
    9) Uninstall the old driver's station, then install the driver's station update
from FIRST. The "uninstall" step only seems necessary if camera video
is to be displayed on the dashboard. To uninstall, run the update and
select the uninstall option in the pull-down menu. After it finishes, run
the update again and install it.

So far, the only official reply is that the image in the KoP works with the replacement model, which is clearly inaccurate.
    Thanks for posting your solutions.
