Default Re-Image Classmate - Rookie teams

We were helping some rookie teams, they ran the USB and it "cleaned" their computer, then it got an image error. We then found the Image Fix patch but it won't run off off of the USB. Since the computer has been cleaned, it doesn't boot and it doesn't have a c drive. How do get the image back so we can run the fix so we can use the USB to re-image the computer?

    Thanks

I have also had this issue. Is there any way to get around downloading the whole image, as we are on limited internet?

This is what I have discovered:

After the E12 Rookie Image USB sticks were created an error was discovered that prevents the Driver Station from launching properly on the Driver Account. Teams can either follow the instructions to download and install one of the online images or follow the instructions below to fix the Driver account after imaging with the provided USB key. The download takes about 40 minutes.

We ran into the same problem and downloaded the 3Gb E12_DRV_2014_171213.7z image. This fixed our problem with the corrupt USB image, but we can't get windows to activate. This image also doesn't have any part of labview installed and you have to install it after applying this image. I am now going to try to download the 8GB E12_DEV_2014_171213.7z to see if this one will activate windows properly. (unless someone has some other ideas for why the Windows activation is not working)

We are having the same problem when trying to activate Windows asking to purchase.

We where unable to re-image using the received 2014 USB image. The re-image process indicated the image file had an issue. From the Imaging you classmate (Veteran/Rookie Image Download) webpage the E12 image was downloaded from the Intel page. The page shows 2 images but they both have the same name. Went through the process of installing the image to a new USB stick. The re-image ran with no issues but am not able to activate Windows.

Can you recommend what steps to try next.

    Thanks

@PeteTom ...look at the names of the downloads very closely. One has DEV (for DEVELOPMENT) and the other has DRV (Driver). The DEV image is 8GB, the DRV image is ~4GB. I downloaded the DRV and successfully imaged our classmate yesterday (1/3/14). It is a PLAIN win 7 image with no FRC specific software. I can't seem to get that image to activate and am going to try the DEV image today. The problem is....the DEV image will not fit on the 8GB USB drive I have and I need to find a bigger drive.
Does anyone know where we can find the Windows 7 Certificate of Authenticity for these classmates we were given? That would have the proper activation code for Windows. It was not in the classmate box, or stuck on the classmate.

There isn't one. Windows 7 Professional on the FRC images uses a volume license assigned to FIRST. The failure to activate was a common problem last year, and appears to be a problem this year. I'd rather not resort to one of the hacks the students know about for extending Windows' activation period. I hope to see a resolution from FIRST or Microsoft, and soon.

    Greetings,

We are currently investigating the reports of issues with Classmate images. If you are having issues, please post what image you attempted to use and as much detail as possible on the errors you received. The errors I have seen reported so far:
-USB in KOP - "Image error"
-E12 DRV image - Windows won't activate. Are there any further details on where this process fails? Does it prompt for a product key, provide an error message, or something else?

    Thank you for your patience!

In order to Activate Windows after reimaging, follow these instructions...

    OK, found a solution.

Go to the 2011 KOP website, download the Windows 7 Activation files, unzip it and run the application.

After this you can activate Windows.

Thanks to Mill from FRC4470 for saving our RQBS

Hi eneubec1, I finally realized that this morning that the names were slightly different, DRV vs. DEV. As mentioned earlier the DEV image would not fit on the 8G stick. Had to go out and purchased a 16G USB stick and was able to re-image the E12 classmate but once again unable to activate windows.

I just read the rely from rsisk101, downloaded the 2011 KOP Windows 7 activation files and executed per the instructions. The results are it WORKED.

Thanks, to eneubec1 for pointing out the file differences and to rsisk101 2011 KOP info.

Kevin, the actual error when trying to re-image using the USB stick supplied is "error opening file E12_DRV_2014_130913.win"

All is good now, I now even have a DS in development mode if needed.
    Thanks to all,
    -pete
