The only display driver that was available was the Standard VGA driver that ships with Windows 7. We reimaged our E12 6 different times, making new USB images each time, 4 times using E12_DRV_2014_171213.7z and twice using E12_DEV_2014_171213.7z. Each time we experienced the same problem with the display drivers.
Today I went to CTL's Support site, started a chat with their support, and told them what was happening. They went straight to the display drivers not being loaded and sent me a link to download the driver file from their ftp site. Unfortunately, I have misplaced the paper that I scribbled the link onto and cannot find it. From their site I downloaded a .zip file, extracted all files, and ran setup. After a quick restart...our E12 is working perfectly...except we cannot activate Windows 7. I did keep the .zip file in case I encounter a similar problem in the future.
Hi Robert, thanks for this added information.
When you are trying to activate Win7, are you connected to a school network? We have seen issues where the Classmate is connected to a network that is either blocking network ports (both 80 and 443 need to be open in order for activation to succeed), or the handshake between Microsoft and the Classmate encounters a problem. We are working with Microsoft to determine a clear resolution for the different error codes that can be generated when activation fails.
If you are attempting activation on your schools network, how is the IP address assigned to the Classmate when connected to the network (e.g. DHCP or static)? We have received reports from teams with issues when trying to activate over their schools network in the past. I suggest trying the activation on a different network, perhaps using a connection at home, and see if that is successful. We have verified that all the images posted on Intel’s site do activate correctly, in my experience failed activation is usually caused by a network issue.
