Default Follow-Up to Using On-Board Scope For Alignment

In a previous question regarding <G11> it was noted that a scope could be used for alignment as long as it was mounted on the robot and met the 2006 Parts Use Flowchart. The rule in question reads as follows : <G11> Alignment Devices - Alignment devices (templates, tape measures, lasers, etc.) that are not part of the ROBOT may not be used to assist with positioning the ROBOT. Teams that use external alignment devices to position their ROBOT will have their ROBOT arbitrarily repositioned by the head referee.

I read this to say that the reverse is true. Templates, tape measures lasers, etc may be used as long as they are mounted on the robot and meet the 2006 Parts Use Flowchart.

It has been posted in the forum under Robot Rules 5.3 that any use of laser pointers is not permitted. These two rulings would appear to be contradictory. Please advise.

Default Re: Follow-Up to Using On-Board Scope For Alignment

If an alignment device does not violate some other rule, and it remains attached to the robot for the entire match, then it is allowed. Laser pointers, however, are not permitted because they violate <S01>.
