A number of teams are having what appears to be significant memory corruption problems with the 2006 RC controller and associated system software, causing random malfunction. This issue is documented in several threads in the programming section of the ChiefDelphi bulletin board.
This type of problem does not appear to happen with the 2005 RC controller. Would it be reasonable for FIRST to consider relaxing the rule that explicitly disallows the 2005 controller, to allow those teams that have written sophisticated control software using the camera, and other uses of interrupts and timers, to show the fruits of their programming labor on the competition field?
