Q: How secure is the high goal to the arena and would it be damaged if a robot were to ram into it to cause a mechanism to activate on impact?

A: Page 38 of the Field Specifications & Documents describes how the high goals are attached to the playing field. It is impossible to answer the second part of this question without knowing the nature of the robot in question. This determination is left up to the team.

Q: Is it legal to use galvanized steel plates or aluminum sheets that are not manufactured by Vex on our robots?

A: No, this would be a violation of <R5>.

Q: Can we cut the tread?

A: Yes, provided no other FVC rules are violated.

The manual states the following:
The following additional components may also be used:
· Ten (10) elastic bands, #32 size only
· 40” of 1/8” Nylon Rope
· 6” of 3/4” Wide Velcro
· 12” x 15” of Non-Slip Pad

Q: Would it be legal to start from the above components and modify their characteristics? For example, unraveling the nylon rope into its separate strands and reforming to get a longer but thinner rope. Or cutting the rubber bands to obtain smaller sections.

A: There is no rule specifically prohibiting these modifications as stated and thus they are legal. Please be sure not to violate other FVC rules in the process.

Q: I know that we can only use official VEX battery packs however are we allowed to use non VEX quick chargers to charge the batteries?

A: In the interests of fairness among all teams, and safety, chargers are restricted to those included in the Vex Power Pack.

Q. Can we use a rapid charger to recharge the 7.2v battery between matches or must we use the Vex recharger?

A: Yes, it is necessary.

Q: We have another question about programing. Do we have to set the autonomous mode in any way ourselves or is it all ready set-up by FVC people?
