    Default Defense while hurdling

Since Overdrive is an all-offense, no-defense game, we have the following question:

If a robot is in the act of placing a trackball on the overpass at the end of a match in an attempt to score the 12 bonus points and an opposing robot pushes the robot attempting to place the ball into the ball, does this not constitute defense? Also, would preventing a robot from reversing to remove contact also constitute defense? Would it not then be in the interest of a team to push their opponent into the opponent's trackball to cause contact, negating the 12 point bonus?

FIRST Overdrive has never been defined as an "all-offense, no-defense game." Defensive strategies, used appropriately, are perfectly acceptable.

A robot placing a Trackball on the Overpass is protected by the provisions of Rule <G42> only while satisfying the definition of "Hurdling." If it is not "Hurdling," then appropriate defense against the placement attempt is allowed.
