A: Remember, according to FVC rules, all field tolerances are +/- 1 inch. Based on the vairability of materials and construction teams are instructed to design accordingly. During the GDC sample build the top of the bar was situated just under 33" from the top of the platform and just over 33" from the foam surface. However, all teams need to design and prepare with these 1-inch tolerances in mind.

    With attention the question

Is the foam floor a "field element"?

Would it be legal to hold down a robot? Would it be considered pinning?

Also, is it illegal to pull/push a robot as long as it is not in contact with a wall?
A: Holding down an opposing robot with the intent of inhibiting it's movement would violate rule <SG4> and would be considered pinning.

Yes, a robot may push or pull an opposing robot as long as rule <SG4> is satisfied.

That answer says pulling another robot is legal (not a violation of the pinning rules). I would have presumed that either pulling or lifting another robot (that didn't want to be pulled or lifted) would be a violation of intentional entanglement prohibitions.

    Could you please clarify?
A: Pulling a robot is legal, provided no other rules are violated. In this particular case, careful attention should be paid to <G9>.

A: Some part of the robot must be touching the wall. A corner would suffice. Please see <SG1>.

A: <SG1> Describes the constraints on the starting position of the robot. The high goals are not considered part of the wall.
