I have a NXT 2.1 brick and a NXT 1.0 brick with 1.26 F/W. I tried to help a couple team members download a program to the NXT 1.0 brick using the NXT-G 2.0 software and it gave them an error and wouldn't allow the program to be downloaded. How do I find out what version of firmware (1.05, 1.26, 1.28, etc.) will work on a NXT 1.0 retail brick with NXT-G 2.0 software, if any? Or do I have to install both versions of NXT-G to match with their respective bricks before the programs will be able to download?

I am a little confused, by your description, when you tried to download the program what error msg did you get? also when you mention NXT 1.0 vs 2.0 are you talking about the brick itself? or about the NXT-G software versions 1.0 vs 2.0.
I may be wrong, but as far as I know if you have a program written on 2.0, that program cannot be run on a 1.0 Probably the safe way to be it is to make sure both bricks and both computers are running the same firmware (1.31 is the latest I believe) and the same NXT-G version 2.0 or the latest 2.1f. |

Older bricks are capable of running the 2.1 software. The bricks really didn't change...just the software used to download programs to them and the firmware. The 1.26 firmware was problematic and didn't work well. Update the firmware on that brick to 1.31 and try to download the program from 2.1 again.
