Default Wireless Setup

We are a rookie team and we are having trouble with the computer/router/bridge/cRIO communications. Does anybody know any guides or blueprints on how to set it up?

A few resources that should help you out.

First, this post may help you better understand how the new D-Link robot radio works: http://forums.usfirst.org/showpost.p...95&postcount=2

Configuring your Radio: http://www.usfirst.org/uploadedFiles...Your_Radio.pdf

Robot Connectivity Diagram (PWM): http://www.usfirst.org/uploadedFiles...PWM)%20(1).pdf

An updated guide to configuring the D-Link DAP-1522 radio has been posted on the Kit of Parts website.

Is it possible to get a bit more detail?

http://www.usfirst.org/roboticsprogr...t.aspx?id=8632
shows:
The FMS Delta software will be pre-installed on a laptop and shipped with the playing field electronics. FIRST will also ship a lower cost field access point, a Linksys WRT610N or similar, configured for 802.11N @ 5GHz.
I'm trying to figure out if 802.11N @ 5GHz is the only mode that a field access point will ever use. If it is, then why does the competition settings of the DLINK DAP-1522 (shown in How_to_Configure_Your_Radio_Rev_A.pdf ) not require competition radio setting to be exactly those options?

Is there a description of the various modes of WiFi that the FRC field will use?
(E.g., 2.4G versus 5G, 802abgn)
Is hunting between modes ever supposed to occur?
Does the FTA check to see that team have provisioned other modes consistently other than the bridge/AP mode and IP address?

The shaded picture in the document How_to_Configure_Your_Radio_Rev_A on page 11 seems to imply 2.4/5G, 802abgn, no autoscan, channel 6, channel width 20MHz is standard competition configuration.

Do all team need to be using auto chan scan or are teams allowed to provision their DLink to camp on the unshared channels during competition?

My team was just a rookie team this 2012 season. Now that we have our robot back in town, we're trying to work it wirelessly and are having troubles. We've reset our IP maybe a dozen times, and still it doesn't want to function. Any ideas to help us against our tribulations?

I would refer to the manual from the FRC website: "Getting Started with the 2012 FRC Control System"

This manual works you through basic setup of every aspect of your robot's control, from cRIO imaging to d-link setup to code deployment and more..

We were rookies too, and this WAS very confusing. I would set it up exactly as they say in the "getting started" manual, and then most of the competitions have a station to re-configure your d-link automatically. From then on you can just work your robot with a tether.
