Default Help with posting

Just did my first post and I am confused with the posting mechanism. I searched for posts where it would be appropriate to post a new thread but almost all forums are closed to posting. I finally posted in the Beta test 2013 forum since it was open although I am not a beta tester. The FAQ do not deal with where to post and the fact that most forums are closed. Perhaps the admin/moderator are responsible for directing posts to the appropriate forum. If so this should be noted in the FAQ.
Sincerely,
Mark Quinlan

Hi Mark,

Welcome to the forums!

I know our IT department is doing some work on the forums to try to reduce the spam problem we have been seeing recently and I'm not sure if that involves temporary closure of any of the forums, but all of the FRC subforums appear to be open to me http://forums.usfirst.org/forumdisplay.php?f=23

The Beta Test forum is fine for that post, I've approved it and will head over there and respond to it right now.

Question Re: Help with posting

Hi,
I want to ask a technical question, but it is unclear to me if I should use the FRC Forum or the Quextit Q&A "forum". I did create a new account and pose a question over there. Here's my feedback. It's hard to make the connection between Supplier and a question forum. No one appears to using the Quextit.
There does not appear to be a mechanism for a general discussion of a topic.
Questions are limited to 300 characters.

I admit I did not watch the Quextit video.

I thought I saw an announcement in this forum that the forum was going away.

Sincerely,
Mark

Mark,

As mentioned in the FRC Blog, due to technical issues with the forums, new user registration is currently disabled. We will be answering technical questions using the Quextit system through this season and then will evaluate how well it works compared to the forums and decide how best to handle technical questions moving forward.

We certainly appreciate any feedback you may have about the system and I have already added your feedback here to my notes.

Thanks,
Kevin O'Connor

If you can easily bump up the max characters (from 300) it would help me.
Regards,
Mark
