Yes, teams may participate at a state tournament even if they are missing some members. Due to some unfortunate events, I've heard of teams missing multiple members, and attending tournaments with only one or two team members. Of course, missing members will impact how well the team can perform at a tournament.

I would recommend contacting your regional FLL partner and letting them know that you are already seeing possible conflicts with the December 22 date. I'm sure that date will be a popular travel day for many people, and many teams would encounter conflicts with that date. Perhaps it is early enough in the season to find an alternate date.

I glanced at the tournament schedule for Minnesota this year, and our last regional tournament is December 16th, with the state tournament not until February 2nd.

Texas South typically does early Dec for Qualifiers and early Jan for Regional.

But this year, many schools are out until Jan 8th. I hope they move Regional to at least Jan 12th. Otherwise many team members could still be travelling.

Dec 22 does stretch it to close. But sometimes venue selection gets to be a real premium. Ask your coordinators what you can do to help to have find other options. Or at least understand the date selection, so that you can have an answer for your parents.

The maximum team size at an event is 10, but there is no minimum.

Yes, but it's hard to win the teamwork award.

I don't know -- there certainly wouldn't be any evidence of conflicts within the team.

Ours has 5 or 6 qualifiers that are all apparently going to be the weekend before Thanksgiving, with state the weekend after Thanksgiving. We may have to go to another state (probably 4+ hour drive plus hotel) if we have too many conflicts -- but I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will work out.

Indiana: Regionals are mid November, State is early/mid December. Our schedule seems much more compressed than a lot of states. Saw state tournaments still happening in February last year.

Qualifiers the weekend before and the 3 weekends after Thanksgiving. Regional championship is the 2nd Saturday in Jan; plenty of space to avoid vacations but since it's during FRC build season they lose a lot of potential volunteers.
