Error installing 2011 simulator

When attempting to install the 2011 simulator, I get an error stating a prior version has already been installed, and I should uninstall it before continuing. However, I believe I have already uninstalled it, or at least there is no reference to it in the 'Add or Remove Programs' utility in Windows XP.

The file '5th Gear' does not exist on my desktop, I must have deleted it.

How do I install the 2011 simulator in this case?

That's not a problem I've run into previously, so I'm not 100% certain how to help you out. As a question, your error message says there's a version of the file at
C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/fmerrick/Desktop/5thgear/Lunacy%20Release%20Candidate%201%20-%20subversion%20rev%20149%20-%2020090122/5thGear.application

Is there any file there? Does that directory exist?

Hi David, no problem on the delay, there's no rush.

There is no 5th gear file in that location now. It's my desktop. I may have downloaded the Lunacy simulation to my desktop some time ago, but it's not there any longer.

I checked the registry to see if I could find any reference to that location and I couldn't.

Hmm. Two more questions:

If you just look for 5thGear in the registry, do you find anything?

Are there any directories named "5thg..<some long random string>" down your Local Settings\Apps\2.0 folder tree? (they'll be inside a couple of randomly-named directories below the 2.0 folder if they exist.)

If I just look for '5thGear' in Keys, no, I don't find anything.

I do find '5thG...' folders in the .../software.../marks/2.0...section of the registry

I'd try deleting those registry entries - those are definitely put there by 5thGear. Hope that helps!

I deleted those entries, but still was not able to install. I installed on another computer instead.
