  • Voting for the Global Innovation Award

It has been interesting to watch the advancement of certain teams on the FLL Global Innovation Award Leader Board over the past week, as voting drew to a close.

Just to provide some data, I made a note of the number of votes received by the "top 15" teams before leaving for work this morning and compared this with the votes they had received at the end of voting this evening. Here are my observations:

    # at end of voting
Votes cast over last 5 hours of voting
    1
    2720
    2
    2750
    7
    1771
    9
    2268
    10
    1123

Re: Voting for the Global Innovation Award

We would need half of our towns population to reach 2500 votes... We did the Global Innovation Award thing last year and promoted heavily. I think we ended up with 5000 votes total.

We can't compete with the Los Angeles and New York markets and our kids/families just ended up frustrated.

For an organization that focuses so heavily on 'everyone is a winner' and 'to level the playing field', they somehow missed the mark on this one.

I'm sure they get a lot of PR from teams telling everyone they know to go to the site though....
