    We're thinking of using an attachment to reach a mission model; the attachment would stay on the field when the robot returns to base. Can the operator pick up the attachment and remove it from the field once it's no longer connected to the robot? Does it fall under the "transported" definition?

    Things that accidentally break off the robot can be retrieved. If something the robot is transporting becomes separated use R15: Stranded to determine what to do with the stranded equipment. In your case I think "Leave as is" applies.
