  • Suspending robots

    Any one considering this?

What standards would we need for this to happen?
What is the danger to the suspending robot?
Is it realistic and will the points affect the game?

    Re: Suspending robots

We've considered it, but we've relegated it to after we get our primary tasks completed. The only danger we can see so far, is it falling on top of a robot trying to suspend from it and damaging another team's robot. We believe it to be realistic, though difficult. As for points affecting the game, only if the scores for a round are either low or very close.

      Re: Suspending robots

We considered this problem, but decided that, aside from the suspension difficulties mentioned it would also require a considerable amount of additional structure. We are trying to keep our robot low, light and fast. We are also of the opinion that the possible points available do not merit extensive effort on this task. (We will see!)

At the miniFRC competition at Intellitek on Sunday, if a robot hung normally those were the deciding points. I think if you can hang it will be key.

As far as standards, hanging robots should have a horizontal section of pipe, identical to the tower, accessible to robots who wish to suspend from them.
