  • cRIO and roboRIO LabView development on the same PC?

Our team has a number of four slot cRIO's that are idle. We would like to use them for various team projects. Is there a way to install "2014 NI Software for FRC" with updates (for the cRIO) and "NI Software for FRC 2017" with updates (for the roboRIO) on the same PC or do they have to be installed on two separate PC's? We would like to use the same PC for development of either the FRC2017 or FRC2014 LabView. Are there any tricks to having both on the same PC?

    Thank you.

Simultaneous installation is not a scenario we test, but I don't see any reason why LV 2014 and LV 2017 shouldn't be able to coexist on the same PC. I believe the DS executable got renamed, but just to be on the safe side, I would install (or re-install) the 2017 LV update after 2014 to make sure you have the 2017 DS, you can use the protocol selector on the setup tab to use this DS to communicate with the cRIO.

      Kevin:

      Thanks for the info.
For the time being we have LV2014 on its own Laptop for cRIO projects.
